Studying medicine in Hungary in English? Your patients will still speak Hungarian. This course prepares you to talk with them, and to pass your university's Hungarian exam.

International medical students in Budapest, Debrecen, Pécs and Szeged learn medicine in English, but clinical practice happens in Hungarian. Taking a patient history, explaining a procedure or calming a worried parent needs a very specific kind of Hungarian.

This course is built exactly for that, organised by body systems and clinical situations, with plenty of role-play so the words come out when you need them.

  • Body parts and organs, and how patients actually describe them
  • Taking a patient history, complaints and describing pain
  • The main body systems: cardiovascular, respiratory, nervous, digestive, reproductive, skin
  • The emergency room, paediatrics and talking with children, mental health conversations
  • Lab results, imaging and diagnosis, medications and prescriptions
  • Explaining procedures, delivering difficult news, and writing medical documents (epikrízis, zárójelentés)
  • Reading and role-play practice in exam style

Do I need to speak Hungarian already?

Basic Hungarian helps, because medical Hungarian builds on everyday grammar. If you're a beginner, we can combine this course with Get by lessons. We'll decide together in the free call.

Will this help with my university's Hungarian exam?

Yes. The course covers the clinical topics and situations these exams focus on, and ends with three lessons of exam-style reading and role-play. Bring your university's requirements to the free call and we'll match the plan to them.

How long is the course and what does it cost?

The course has 24 one-to-one lessons. Each lesson costs 5,500 Ft, and the first consultation is free.

Can I take lessons during the semester?

Yes. Lessons are online and one-to-one, so we fit them around your timetable and exam dates.
