A random Hungarian with a not-so-random love for teaching.
I grew up in the south of Hungary and now live in TĂŒrkiye. For several years I've been teaching foreigners my wonderfully strange mother tongue, and teaching English too.
I teach because a language is more than vocabulary. It's getting the joke at the dinner table, going to the doctor on your own, and the day a new city starts to feel like home.
âYou don't need perfect Hungarian. You need Hungarian that works for your life.â
Why âLanguage Roverâ?
A rover travels on foot and stops in every village along the way. That's how I see learning a language: one step at a time, with plenty of stops. My three main packages are the three stages:
- Get by Find your feet and handle daily life.
- Connect Work, paperwork, friends and neighbours.
- Belong Speak with confidence and nuance.
Why a shepherd and his sheep?
After every class you get a game sheet. In it you play a juhåsz, a Hungarian shepherd, looking for the greatest vitéz of Hungarian folk tales.
Each mission uses that day's lesson: you solve puzzles, crack codes, answer strangers on the road and shop at the market. Every right answer earns you Vitéz points.

Mistakes mean you're trying. I'd rather hear ten wrong sentences than silence.
